Obituary

Longtime resident of Fitzgerald, Georgia, Louise Bing Eidson, 87, died on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta after months of declining health. She spent the last eighteen months of her life as a resident of the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, June 27, 2005, at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Steve Waldorf officiating. Mrs. Lois McCord will give a eulogy. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until the funeral hour on Monday.

Mrs. Eidson was born January 30, 1918 in Bartow County, Georgia to the late James Franklin and Mertie Lee Mathis Bing. She had lived in the community most of her life and was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, the Friendship Sunday School Class, and the United Methodist Women Circle #3. She held membership in the Cherokee Garden Club for a number of years and was active in the Ladies Lodge of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen.

Mrs. Eidson was a rare person in many ways. Although she never worked outside the home, she had an innate ability to shorten tasks saving time without ever sacrificing quality. She was inordinately intuitive and knew the right thing to do at just the right time whether it was caring for grandchildren or preparing a meal for someone in need, which she regarded as labors of love.

She was extremely well read. Her wit, determination, and practicality enabled her to be successful in her endeavors.

She was a devoted wife and a loving mother. She is survived by her son: Charles M. Eidson and his wife Jennie of Valdosta; daughter Dona Eidson Gamble and her husband Don of Durham, North Carolina; and son Allan S. Eidson and his wife Dianne of Kansas City, Kansas. Five grandchildren and three grandchildren-in-law also survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.A. “Pug” Eidson.

The family suggests those desiring to send memorials in lieu of flowers may send them to the Scholarship Fund of Central United Methodist Church, P O Box 428, Fitzgerald, GA 31750.
