Mary Ellen (Leahy) Boyce, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved wife of the late Charles E. Boyce, passed away at her home on Thursday morning, March 3, 2016. She was 88 years old.
Born in Fairmont, West Virginia, Mary Ellen was the beloved daughter of the late Dr. William J. and Mary Adeline (Dowens) Leahy of Mannington, WV., and devoted sister of the late Thomas D. Leahy of Glastonbury, Ct.. She was predeceased by her beloved sister-in-law, Eileen Kennedy and her husband, Edward Kennedy of Huntsville, Alabama. Mary Ellen was valedictorian of the Mannington High School class of 1945. She attended West Virginia University and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She worked as a medical technologist at the Griffin Hospital, Derby, Connecticut. An avid reader, she also loved a wide range of music and playing the piano. Above all, Mary Ellen was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her loving children: Michael L. and his wife Patricia A. Boyce of Ellsworth, Maine, Ellen and her husband John H. Moss of Concord, Dr. Patrick J. Boyce of Southampton and Anne E. Boyce of Maplewood, New Jersey; six grandchildren: Caitlin, Cameron, Will, Meghan, Halle and Liam; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Leahy of Glastonbury, Ct., and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggetts Pond Road, Andover on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held in the church on Friday, March 11, 2016, from 5 to 7 PM. Interment will be privately held.
