HELEN (Spaliatsos) SMITH
SMITH HELEN, 88, of Yulee passed away March 6th, 2016; at Baptist Hospital Nassau. Born on July 11, 1927 in Cleveland, OH to the late Thomas and Theresa (Szekeres) Spaliatsos. Helen worked for Swisher Int’l, Inc for forty years and served as the president of RWDSU Local 531 for 15 years. She loved playing bingo, crocheting, and baking. Her greatest love was for her family. Beloved wife of the late Aldine G. Smith; was preceded in death by her children Barbara Moody and Alex Smith; loving mother to Sandra Hardrick, Wayne (Dolores) Smith, Joan (Tony) Westberry, Bob (Mary) Clark; devoted grandmother of Mark Hardrick, Rob Clark, Melissa Smith, Tessa Joyner, Cindy Kaneer, Brian Hoyle, Jeffrey Hoyle, Fr. Rob Spaliatsos, Ira Hand, Cody Smith; the great-grandmother of 21; and great-great grandmother of 3. Survived by two sisters, Christina Horvath and Barbara Paul and preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Father Robert Spaliatsos officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery.
