Evans, GA – Rita Ann Murtha Wilber, 86, loving wife of 63 years to Howard A. Wilber, entered into rest on Sunday, March 6, 2016.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Roverse serving as celebrant. Inurnment to follow in the St. Teresa of Avila columbarium.
Rita was born in Rochester, PA to the late John R. Murtha, Sr. and Anna Marie Biebl Murtha and was a 1947 graduate of Rochester High School. Throughout her life, Rita lived to serve others. She achieved this by volunteering for several years as Auditor in the township where she lived in PA, 26 years as income tax preparer for AARP, and worked for many social organizations. Rita loved to travel with her husband. She also enjoyed baking and was well known for her pies she made from scratch.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two brothers; Ronald Murtha and wife Betty, John “Jack” Murtha, Jr. and wife Betty; sister in law; Mary Alice Rider and husband Al, brother in law; Roger Whitehouse and wife Deborah, sister in law; Marge Murtha, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her brothers; William Murtha, Ray Murtha, Donald Murtha, brother in law; Robert Whitehouse, sister in law; Marion Wilber Rienard and husband Harry.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon, March 8, 2016 from 1:00 until 5:00 PM.
