Obituary

Charles Franklin Exum, 76, of Valdosta died Saturday, March 5, 2016. He was born on March 11, 1939 in Valdosta to the late Eugene Franklin and Cleo Lastinger Exum. Mr. Exum was a member of the Clyattville United Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Army 101st Airborne Division. He had served as a Funeral Director/Embalmer with Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald, McGowan/Exum Funeral Home and Sumner Funeral Home in Valdosta. He was a 40 year member of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association. Mr. Exum served for sixteen years as Coroner of Lowndes County and was a member of the Georgia Coroners Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and reading.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lama Wisenbaker Exum of Valdosta; three daughters and sons in law, Teresa and Buddy Ash of Fitzgerald, Elizabeth and Stacy Selph of Chula, Julie and Scott Bullington of Sycamore; five grandchildren, Lisa and Jeremy Miles, Trey Ash, Josie Bullington, Dylan Bullington and Luke Selph; two great grandchildren, Landon Miles and Jordan Miles; one brother and sister in law, Wayne and Ann Exum of Valdosta; sister and brother in law, Janice and Ronnie Pittman of Valdosta; sisters in law and brother in law, Peggy Exum of Lake Park, Jan and Ronald Rogers of Clyattville; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carson Exum, sister and brother in law, Geri and Richard Kent, nephew, Chris Exum and parents in law, Whiz and Madge Wisenbaker.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Ellis and Rev. Mollie Danner officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
