Born in Boston, he was the only son of the late Peter and Mary C. "Millie" (DiBello) DiTroia. Surrounded by 6 sisters who he so loved and adored, and always said “he was never spoiled”.

Frank was raised on Lapham St. in Medford and would have graduated in 1952 but chose to enlist in 1951 and proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict (DAV), earning his GED and honorably discharged in 1955. Frank worked in the electronics field for many years but his proudest accomplishment was with the USPS as a mailhandler in South Boston, working thru the ranks and retiring in 1999 as Postmaster in the North Sandwich, NH, Post Office. After retirement, he drove school bus in Moultonborough part-time for field trips and sports events until he developed macular degeneration and sadly had to give up driving altogether in 2006. Frank loved his Boston Bruins so much he would even sometimes watch the taped game again later that night and always had that pained expression on his face when Rask was in net.

He is survived by his loved “wife” Patricia Bourque of 39 years, his son, Frank S. DiTroia, of Billerica MA, his step-son Steve Carbone (Lori), of Wilmington MA, his beloved step-daughter, Sheryl McCarthy (Kevin), of Moultonborough NH, his grandchildren, who he was so proud of and were special to him, Alyssa McCarthy and Garrett McCarthy of Moultonborough NH, Damien and Jaxon Carbone of Wilmington MA and Lorene DiTroia of No. Reading MA. His beloved sisters and brother-in-law, Norma Flener (and her late husband Lendron) of Winchester MA, Mildred Corrado (and her late husband Gerard), of Stoneham, MA and Judith and John DeBilio, of The Villages FL, including many many nieces, nephews and cousins who he loved very much. Frank was predeceased by his sisters, Anna (and Angelo) DeFlumeri, Marie (and Sal) Ciaccio, Elizabeth (Snooky) Piercy, and his beloved daughter, Lorene N. DiTroia by accident in 1979.

A Funeral service will be held at the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main Street, Medford MA at 7 PM on Wednesday, March 9th. Visiting hours 3 to 7 PM prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later date.
