TAUNTON – Joseph Thomas, husband of the late Mary J. (Ferrari) Thomas, died at Morton Hospital on March 4, 2016.
He was 92.
Born in Swansea, Joe grew up in Warren, RI where he attended the Child St. School.
He joined the US Merchant Marines in 1940 to serve the duration of WWII, completing many missions for US Army Transportation Corps, the US Navy, as well as the US Coast Guard. In peacetime, Joe was an auto body repairman and body shop owner for over 30 years.
He retired many years ago.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, dining out, and visits with his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Dorothy A. Thomas of Taunton; two grandchildren, George W. Ball, IV and Brandon J. Ball, both of Taunton; his sister, Pearl Francis of Warren RI; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, March 10th at 12 noon.
Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
The family will be receiving visitors from 11 to 12 noon, prior to the Services.
