James “Jim” A. Baxter
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, March 7, 2016 at his residence, Mr. James “Jim” Allen Baxter, 80, husband of 52 years to Mrs. LaNelle Baxter.
Mr. Baxter was a native of Pikeville, KY but lived in Augusta for many years. He was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church. Mr. Baxter received his Master’s Degree in Pharmacy from Butler University. He worked as a pharmacist at the Veterans Administration Hospital for 20 years. Mr. Baxter was a very quiet and humble man. He was happiest when he was with his family. Mr. Baxter was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his daughters: Olivia Leonard and husband Rev. Jim of Augusta and Judy Schaap and husband Curtis of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren: Christine Rhodes, James Orville Leonard, II, Olivia Lee Leonard, Hope Schaap, Seth Schaap and Lindsey Schaap; brother: Dr. Jon Baxter and wife Judith of Gainesville, FL.
A memorial service will be Thursday, March 10, 2016, 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Greg Hatfield and Rev. Jim Leonard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church Choir Fund, 1330 Monte Sano Ave, Augusta, GA 30904.
The family will receive friends following the service.
