Obituary

NEW BEDFORD – Ned K. Leduc, 68, of South Dartmouth, Ma. passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016. He was married to his loving wife, Isabel (McCormick) Leduc for 46 years. He was the son of late Florence (Pedro) Leduc Nisbet and Herve “Duke” Leduc Jr.

A lifelong resident of South Dartmouth, he resided in his childhood home on Elm Street for the past 28 years. Ned graduated from Dartmouth High School, Roger Williams University and Salve Regina University, where he earned his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice.

Upon graduating from high school, Ned joined the Navy and honorably served his country. He later joined the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve in which he served for over 20 years. Ned became a Federal Protective Officer in Providence, R.I. then proudly joined the New Bedford Police Department in 1974, retiring in 2001. Throughout his 27 year Career as a Police Officer, he held various positions and enjoyed the men and women with whom he worked.

Ned's love of cars and boats was evident throughout his life. Nothing made him happier than spending a day on the boat with his wife, kids and grandkids.

Ned is survived by his wife, Isabel; his children, Alisa, Robert, and Jreck; his five grandchildren, Perry, Cannondale, Draven, Aiden and Andrew. Ned is also survived by his twin brother, Neill K. Leduc, and his wife, Amy; his brother Gary Leduc and his wife, Carol; sister-in-law Elizabeth (Roy) LeDuc, as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends, all of whom loved him dearly. With his death, Ned was reunited with his parents and brother, Keith LeDuc.

Calling hours will be at the WILSON CHAPEL 479 County St. New Bedford on Wednesday March 9, 2016 from 4–8 PM His Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Middle St., South Dartmouth on Thursday at 10 AM. and everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Ma.
