Elizabeth Daly Connelly, “Betty” of Wellesley, after a brief illness on March 4, 2016. Betty, the oldest child of Joseph and Loretta (Wrynn) Daly, was born in Providence on October 7, 1926. Betty was preceded in death by her husband John in 1972, and her son Edward in 2010. Betty is survived by her children, Thomas (Arlene) of Maplewood, NJ, Carol (Andrew Hanko) of Washington, DC, and John (Nancy) of Marblehead, her grandchildren Brandon and Bria of Maplewood, her sister Joan Ceglarski of Middletown, RI, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty graduated from Pembroke College (Brown University) in 1948. Before her marriage, Betty taught English at East Providence High School. She returned to teaching in the late 1960s, and retired from the Holliston High School English Department in 1991.
After retiring, Betty audited numerous art history courses at Wellesley College and continued to play golf at Nehoiden. Betty enjoyed traveling, from Moscow to Malta, Vancouver to Volpaia.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington Street (Rt. 16), WELLESLEY, Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul’s Church, 502 Washington St. Wellesley at 12 noon. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Friday, March 11, 2016 from 4-7pm. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
