Santo S. DiPrima, a 3 year resident of East Boston and a 50 year resident of Charlestown and formerly of the North End, entered into eternal life on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at his home in East Boston surrounded by his loving family. He was 90 years old.
Santo was born in the North End of Boston on January 30, 1926, a son of the late Calogero DiPrima and Lucia (Bruno) DiPrima. He grew up in the North End where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Boston English High School. Santo enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on March 28, 1944 an served his country with honor and courage during World War II. He was honorably discharged on August 8, 1946 with the rank of Private. Santo worked for the City of Boston as a Purchasing Agent for 10 years at the Boston Water and Sewer Department, and also for Pullman Vacuum in as a Purchasing Agent for 10 years. He loved to cook, summer down the Cape in East Sandwich, and winter in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. Santo was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Santo is the beloved husband of 57 years to Priscilla R. (Flaherty) DiPrima. He is the devoted father of Joseph DiPrima, Steven DiPrima and his wife Maria, Charles DiPrima and his wife Nubia, Rita Gingras and her husband Albert, Luci DiPrima, and Lisa Sgrosso and her husband Joseph. He is the loving Papa to Steven, Nicholas, Alanna, Julia, Christopher and Gisel. He is the beloved brother of Mary Romano and her husband Frank, Carmella Gilardi and her husband Mike, Anna DiPrima, Gerald DiPrima, and the late Phillip DiPrima, Joseph DiPrima and Phyllis DiPrima. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Santo's visiting hours on Tuesday morning, March 8, 2016 from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, at 11 A.M. His burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
