Obituary

FRAMINGHAM: James R. “Jim” Himes has gone home to be with the Lord on March 3, 2016 after celebrating 92 years with his loving family and friends.
Jim was born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 21, 1923 the son of the late Verne A. Himes and Anna K. (Johnson) Himes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Helen M. (Lutz) Himes of Framingham. Beloved father of Susan L. Eckhardt of Chelmsford; Laurie M. Taylor of Franklin and Eric D. Himes and his wife Aileen Sanchez-Himes of Framingham. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and a wide circle of friends whom he considered family.
Jim has been a resident of Framingham for over 53 years and spent his formative years in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from South Hills High School and attended business college in Pittsburgh. He married Helen Lutz after returning from World War II in 1946 serving with the United States Navy as a Carpenters Mate 3rd Class in the Solomon Island Campaign.
He worked for 34 years for Manpower where he was the Regional Manager for the Northeastern region of the United States. He was a member of the American Legion of Boston and was an avid fisherman and loved gardening both flowers and vegetables.
Jim was a longtime member of Liberty Church of Shrewsbury and in his earlier years with Wellesley Park Assembly of God.
Jim was blessed to have Helen, his three children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was devoted to them and his strong faith in God.
He will be remembered for his kindness and love to others and his wonderful sense of humor.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte 30), Wayland.
Jim’s funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 10:00 am with Pastor Marc Minerella of the Judah City Church of Marlborough officiating.
Interment will follow in the Himes family lot in Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham.
