Obituary

DiFranco, John F., of Hull, formerly of Weymouth & Hyde Park, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family March 2. John was raised in the City of Boston and was a true city kid. He was an avid runner who was fortunate enough to be part of the L Street Running Club and jog all over the streets of Boston, especially South Boston, a place he called home for many years. John ran 6 Boston Marathons and countless road races with plaques and medals to fill an entire room. John was a United States Navy Veteran who had served in the Korean War. Johnny D. had many passions and music was one of them. From big bands to quartets to Cabaret Shows, John spread his talent all over Boston and the South Shore as a professional musician. He spent many nights singing Karaoke with his countless friends. The most important thing in his life however was his family. John was able to spend his best years with his children and grandchildren laughing, singing and telling his corny jokes. John was adored by his faithful Boxer Bella who snuggled with him daily bringing him comfort and love. Beloved husband of the late Myrna Rosalyn (Holiver). Devoted father of Nicholas DiFranco & his wife Janet of Uxbridge, Lisa Powers & her husband Terrance of Hull and Nancy Miller & her husband Richard of Weymouth. Cherished grandpa of Nicole & Michael Miller. Dear brother of Lucy Crehan of Weymouth, Barbara Brown of Quincy, Peggy Acardi of Pembroke & Thomas DiFranco of Derry, NH. Funeral Mass at St. Agatha Church, Milton, Monday morning at 10:30. Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, Sunday 3 to 7 PM. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park. Retired employee of AFL – CIO Laborers International Union, Local # 151. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to Prayersforcharlotte.org or to Hospice of the South Shore 30 Reservoir Park Dr. Rockland, MA 02370 or do something kind for someone today.
