SPRINGFIELD – Donald A. “Don” Nashville, 80, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, March 3, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on February 21, 1936, a beloved son of the late Wycliffe and Hazel (Taylor) Nashville. He was raised in Springfield, attended Springfield schools and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was employed for over 20 years as a truck driver for Burke Beverage in Chicopee. Active in his faith, he was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Chicopee and the West Stockbridge Sportsmen’s Clubs and enjoyed his yearly hunting trip to Putney, Vermont with his son, his grandsons and his buddies. He was a member of the Teamster’s Local 404 and the Springfield Lodge of Elks Post 61. He enjoyed going to Russ’ Restaurant at the Glenwood Circle in Springfield where he would visit with his many friends. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s hockey and baseball games, the New England Patriots and his granddaughter’s many dance recitals and bridal shows. Above all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who showered his family with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Marlene C. (Montesi) Nashville. They were married on June 15, 1957 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 58 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving children, Jeffrey D. Nashville and his wife, Michele, of Springfield and Christine M. Russo and her husband, Rino, of Ludlow; his four cherished grandchildren, Michelina Nashville and her fiancé, Wesley Oliver, Christopher Nashville, Aniel Russo and Alyssa Russo; his dear sister, Barbara Mackie of Springfield; his dear brother in law, Fred Montesi and his wife, Patricia, of Feeding Hills; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Nashville and Montesi families. Besides his beloved parents, he was also predeceased by his two dear brothers, Wycliffe and Roland Nashville; and his two dear sisters, Hazel Rankin and Rita Teehan. His Funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, March 9, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 (the funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His Burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Children’s Miracle Network at Baystate Medical Center, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199 or to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute ~ Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
