MANCHESTER - Alice L. (Torrey) Donovan, 94, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at St. Teresa's Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
She lived in Laconia, after growing up in Blue Hill, Maine, the daughter of the late Harvey and Annie (Chapman) Torrey. Alice worked at Winconia Corporation. She moved to Manchester in 1968 and was employed at Occasions Vending Corporation. Her greatest joy was being a foster grandparent for 21 years with The Friends Program.
Family members include her daughter Beverly Curry of Manchester, NH, and her son Robert Donovan and his wife Doris Donovan of Phoenix, AZ, and son James Donovan, of Waxachie, TX, and daughter-in-law Nancy Torrey, 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Stewart in 1971, son Reginald Torrey and many brothers and sisters.
Memorial Calling hours will be held on Sunday March 6, 2016 from 11am to 1:00 pm at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home , 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1:00PM, also at the funeral home.
Burial will be held at Bayside Cemetery in Laconia at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Alice asked for donations to be made to The Friends Foster Grandparent Program, 202 North State Street Concord, NH. 03301.
