Raynor ‘Ray’ Ahmuty, 94, of Provincetown passed away Monday, February 29, 2016. He was the loving husband of Ollie Ahmuty.
Born in Cumberland, RI, he was the son of the late William and Janet (Ward) Ahmuty. He graduated from Tolman High School in Pawtucket and matriculated to the Rhode Island School of Design. His study there was interrupted by World War II. Ray served in the US Army in France and Belgium, from 1942 – 1946.
After his discharge, he worked as the Visual Merchandise Director for the Peerless Company for 35 years. He was past president of the Providence Art Club, a member of the Rhode Island Watercolor Club, the AE (Ann Eliza) Social Club and the Wannamoisett [RI] Country Club.
In Provincetown, he was a member of the Lewis Young Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Morris Light American Legion Post. He was also a member of St. Mary of the Harbor Episcopal Church.
Along with Ollie, his wife of 68 years, he leaves a wide circle of friends in the area.
After cremation, he was interred in a private ceremony at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
A Memorial Service will take place Saturday, May 14th at 11:00 am in St. Mary of the Harbor Episcopal Church, 517 Commercial St, Provincetown. Family and friends are invited to attend.
