Fidelia Chalas entered into rest on March 1, 2016 at the age of 86. Beloved mother of Jose Antonio, Manuel Emilio, Inocencia Alicia, Carlos Rafael, Ramon Modesto, Martha Beatriz and the late Belkis Antonia.
Beloved sister of Nicia Mejia, Libio Mejia and the late Damiana Mejia, Ramon Mejia, and Miguel Mejia. She leaves behind 15 Grandchildren and 20 Great grandchildren. In her earlier years in El Seibo, Dominican Republic, Fidelia enjoyed singing at private gatherings. She also loved dancing and sewing amongst other things. Upon marriage, she became a consummate mother who dedicated her life to her children, Fidelia was an excellent cook who took great pleasure in preparing meals for her family and spending quality time together. She was a strong, loving and caring woman who always did all she could not only for her family but also for those who crossed her path. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at The Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help - "Mission Church" 1545 Tremont St. Roxbury on Friday March 4 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also visit with her family at the Church from 9 AM until 10 AM prior to the Mass.
