John J. Shea, 82, of McGuire Road, North Providence, died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Hopkins Manor in North Providence. He was the beloved husband of L. Pauline (Smith) Shea. They had been married for 52 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Clement P. Shea, Sr. and the late Alice (Pryor) Shea. He had lived in North Providence for the past 19 years. He resided in and raised his family in Pawtucket for 33 years.
He was a Foreman for the City of Pawtucket for 25 years before retiring in 1996. He was a graduate of St. Pius School, LaSalle Academy and Providence College. He was active in youth sports throughout his life, coaching Little League, softball and basketball. He was an avid fan of anything sports, most especially his beloved Red Sox, New England Patriots, Bruins and Friars.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children: Michael J Shea of Orlando,FL, Patricia Shea Leary and her husband Michael of Cumberland, Lynda Johnson and her husband Randy of Warwick,and his four grandchildren,Brian, Megan, Shea and Ryan.
A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday, March 4th at 10am in St. Pius Church, 55 Elmhurst Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visitation respectfully omitted.
