CHICOPEE – Ruth F. (Kartz) O’Neill Jazab, 92, of the Sandy Hill section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, February 25, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Ludlow on October 3, 1923, a beloved daughter of the late Stanley and Marie (Billings) Kartz. She was raised in Ludlow, graduated from local schools and moved to Chicopee in 1956. She was employed for many years as a secretary at the former American Saw in Chicopee and had also previously been employed at the East Springfield Plant of the former Westinghouse Corporation. She was a past Vice-President and member of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Quabbin, a volunteer at Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen in Chicopee for many years and she also knitted hats, mittens, scarves and preemie hats for local organizations. She was predeceased by her husbands, Kenneth O’Neill who was Called Home on February 12, 1956 and Joseph A. Jazab, Jr. who was Called Home on June 15, 1985: her loving daughter, Kim P. (O’Neill) Franczek who was Called Home on November 4, 1997; her loving son-in-law, David E. Duncanson who was Called Home on November 10, 2013; and her two dear sisters and brothers-in-law, Laura (Kartz) Glinka and her husband, Richard, and Evelyn (Kartz) Sanocki and her husband, Edward. She leaves her two loving daughters, Deborah O. (O’Neill) Duncanson of West Newbury, MA and Beth (Jazab) Pashko and her husband, John, of South Hadley; her loving son-in-law, Daniel E. Franczek and his wife, Louise, of Chicopee; her two cherished grandsons, Justin D. Franczek and his wife, Christina, of Longmeadow and Ryan J. Franczek and his fiancée, Amanda Dedo, of Chicopee; her cherished niece, Donna (Glinka) Douglas and her husband, Allan, of Cummington, MA; her cherished nephew, Kris Glinka and his wife, Sue, of Granby; MA; and her many dear cousins, friends and extended family members. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, March 4, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (the funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 56 Saint Anthony Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
