Obituary

Lucille I. (Janson) Lavoie, 92, of Dartmouth passed away Sunday February 28, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her family after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late George H. Lavoie.

Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Alphonse and Marie Anna (Ouellette) Janson, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.

Mrs. Lavoie was an accomplished seamstress for most of her working career.

Memere loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, and sewing. She was an avid yardsaler, who always enthusiastically hunted those great bargains.

She is survived by her son, Richard Lavoie and his longtime partner Marcia Costa of New Bedford; her daughter, Irene Sisson of Dartmouth; five grandchildren, Dennis Lavoie and his wife Monika, Sharon Lemrise, Derek Lavoie and his wife Autumn, Mathew Sisson and his wife Lindsey, and Corey Sisson and her fiancé Charlie Gerrior; two step-grandchildren, Evan and Janice Weldon; six great-grandchildren, Brie-Anne Keirnan and her husband Zachary, Kyla and Rachel Lemrise, Norah and Jack Sisson, and Fennec Lavoie; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Jeannette DeGagne, Helene Chandler, and Germaine Janson, her brother, Rev. John Anthony Janson, O.F.M., and her son-in-law, Charles Sisson.

Her Funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church, Dartmouth at 10 AM. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Nurse Home Care, P.O. Box 751, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
