Obituary

Alice A. Carroll, a Tewksbury resident for over 45 years formerly of Chelsea passed away peacefully, February 29, 2016, at the Blaire House in Tewksbury following a brief illness. She was 88 years of age. Alice was the beloved wife of the late James W. Carroll and William Mowatt. Born in Chelsea she was one of six children of the late Joseph and Anna (Malantra) Ludovico.

Alice was raised and educated in Chelsea and was a 1945 graduate of Chelsea high School. Alice worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Sweet Heart Plastics prior to her retirement. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Dorothy Church and was a member the Sodality. She was a member of the Tewksbury Wilmington Emblem Club and the Tewksbury Golden Age Club and was a Gold Star Wife of America. In her leisure time, Alice enjoyed knitting, and playing cribbage and whist with family and friends.

Alice was the devoted mother of Alisa A. Carroll of Tewksbury, and the late Thomas J. Carroll. She was the sister of the late Vito Ludovico, Virginia Kirschenbauer, Florence Annese, Eleanor Garofalo and Alfred Ludovico. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., Wilmington, Saturday, March 5th, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Dorothy Church, Main St., Wilmington, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, Friday, from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Alice to Susan G. Komen, P. O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
