Larry Jerome Bracewell, 70, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Dr. Fred Evers officiating. Larry will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Ike Branch officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, March 4, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be meeting at 117 Lower Brookfield Road in Tifton, the Bracewell farm where Larry grew up.
Keigan Bracewell, Shane Bracewell, Ashley McBride, Chad Bracewell, Jake Dukes and David Hampton will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be former and current employees of Bell South/AT&T.
Born June 4, 1945 in Ocilla, Larry was the son of the late Willard and Cora Bracewell. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, William Franklin and Elizabeth Miller Bracewell and Jimmy Jackson and Clara Pearl Taylor Cox; a grandson, Garrett Reis; two granddaughters, Calin Hampton and Rebecca Reis; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Loren Sr. and Nora Smith. He retired from Bell South/AT&T in 2000 and then formed his own business, IPW (Interior Phone Wiring). He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Tifton. He helped form the Tiftarea Firearms Association and served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. He was a lifetime/honorary member of the Tifton Jaycees.
Larry loved riding motorcycles and collecting guns. He was a very spiritual man, who loved his family. His grandchildren were the joy of his life.
Larry is survived by his wife, Vicki Smith Bracewell of Tifton; his children and their spouses, Lynn Bracewell Reis (Terry) of Cataula, Kimberlin Kay Hampton of Moultrie, Jackie Bracewell (MaryLynn) of Ocilla, Michael Bracewell (Allison) of Tifton, Brian Bracewell of Tifton and Justin Bracewell (Jillian) of Lake Charles, Louisiana; his grandchildren and their spouses, Danielle McBride (Ashley) of Macon, Keigan Bracewell (Haleigh) of Richmond Hill, Rayna Newsome of Pavo, Annslee Reis of Cataula, Shane Bracewell of Ocilla, Laura Bracewell of Ocilla, Christen Bracewell Evans of Tifton, Murphy Bracewell of Tifton, Zoey Bracewell of Tifton, Taylor Bracewell of Thomasville and Charlie Kate Bracewell of Tifton; his great-grandchildren, Kyler Whiddon of Pavo, Georgia McBride of Macon, Jackson McBride of Macon and arriving soon, Annabeth McBride of Macon and Brynleigh Bracewell of Richmond Hill; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Sandra Bracewell of Alpharetta and Tonny and Sue Bracewell of Baconton; a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Whitley Bryant of Ocilla; and several nieces and nephews.
