Our beloved mother, Isabel Pimentel Quiroz, 84, passed away peacefully Feb. 26, 2016. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she taught us the importance of family and being “hermanable”. A constant source of love and light to her children, grandchildren and great grand-children’s lives, she left a lasting imprint on 3 generations which will never fade
Born August 28, 1931 in Zinaparo, Michoacan, Mexico to Refugio and Ponciano Pimentel. She emigrated to the United states in 1946, and became a citizen in 1989. She was fond of telling us tales from her childhood of getting caught by her hair in mesquite trees as she ran away from her brothers for doing something or another – a streak of mischief that never left her.
She met the love of her life, Alfonso Quiroz, whom she married in 1955. Longtime residents of Ventura, CA, Isabel and Alfonso spent the next 54 years together until Alfonso passed in 2013. Active members of their parish, Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Isabel was a member of the Guadalupana association. She retired in 1990 from Oxnard Lemon Company.
Isabel is survived by children Alfonso Quiroz and wife Maricela, Amelia Gonzalez and husband Jose, Armando Quiroz and wife Christina, and Angel Quiroz and wife Marieanne; grandchildren Kristina Swaim and husband Charles, Alfonso Quiroz III and wife Alison, Alyse Quiroz, Andrew Gonzalez, Niguel Quiroz, Adam Gonzalez, Michael Quiroz, Quentin Quiroz, Kelly Quiroz, Luke Quiroz, Samuel Quiroz, and Isabel Quiroz; great-grandchildren Gabriel Swaim, Nathan Swaim, Zoe Quiroz, Jacob Swaim, Ryley Quiroz and Zachary Quiroz.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday March 4, 2016 at 4pm, followed by reciting the Most Holy Rosary at 7pm, in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME, 757 E. Main Street Ventura. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday March 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Telegraph Road Ventura. Interment to immediately follow in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park.
