Obituary



Worcester – Dorothy H. (Wallace) Sparhawk, 87, of Worcester and formerly of Wells, Maine died in her home on Monday, February 29th after an illness.

Dorothy was married for 51 years to the late Clayton I. Sparhawk who died in 2006. She is survived by her three sons, Gary Sparhawk of Worcester, Keith Sparhawk and his wife, Barbara of Leicester and Kevin Sparhawk of Worcester; a daughter, Jacqueline Lamarche and her husband Robert of Worcester with whom she lived for the past 3 years; 4 brothers, James Wallace of Florida, Gerry Wallace, Robert Kenyon and Richard Kenyon all of New Jersey; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Sparhawk was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised by her parents, Harry Kenyon and Mary Elizabeth Wallace Kenyon and is also predeceased by a brother Artie Wallace.

Dorothy worked at Worcester Credit Union as a clerk and then for the Small Business Service Bureau where she worked until her retirement.

Mrs. Sparhawk was a family oriented woman that truly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and especially her great grandchildren that called her “Gigi”. Upon her retirement Dorothy moved to Maine with her husband where she developed a true love for the town of Wells, Maine and the beaches there.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 3rd at 11:30 AM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with burial to follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11:30 in the funeral home before the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America 355 lexington Ave., 15th Floor, New York, NY 10017.
