Obituary

Charles Robert Sample, age 98 of Prosser, entered into rest on February 23, 2016 at Prosser Memorial Hospital. He was born to Charles and Sarah Sample on June 20, 1917 in Fayetteville Arkansas where he was raised and educated.

In 1944, Charles moved to Richland where he lived for many years while working at Hanford as a welder and pipefitter. He also supervised other nuclear power plant construction across the United States. Later he lived in Yakima for eighteen years before settling in Prosser six years ago.

In 1990, Charles married Goldie Adkins in Grandview Washington, and they were happily married and deeply in love for twenty five years.

Charles enjoyed having a cappuccino and was an amazing gardener. He loved reading and music, especially the old hymns. He was a member of the Pipefitters Union.

He is survived by his daughter Famie Whitener; step-sons Harry Cleveland, John Hultberg of Prosser, Lloyd Hultberg of Prosser, Glen Hultberg of Medical Lake, and step-daughter Linda Elhard. Charles is preceded in death by his parents as well as his son Charles R. Sample Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 26, 2016 at the Nazarene Church in Prosser. A private graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 25 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Prosser Funeral Home.
