Obituary

Donald W. Collier, 85, of Albany, Georgia, died Friday, February 26, 2016, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Monday, February 29, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home, in Fitzgerald, with Pastor Steve Waldron officiating. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery in Wilcox County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Collier was born April 27, 1930, in Pickens, South Carolina, to the late Thomas Leonard & Ruby Davis Collier. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War era. Mr. Collier was a body shop foreman at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He loved repairing automobile bodies and restoring cars. He lived in Albany for over 50 years and was a member of New Life Church in Albany.

He is survived by three sisters: Mary C. Dykes of Fitzgerald, Jean C. Poole of Fitzgerald, and Judy C. Dowdy of Mystic. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Simmons Collier; two sisters: Azzie Mae C. Mitchell and Linda C. Black; and three brothers: Charles Collier, Leroy Collier, and Carl Collier.
