Judith Ann Maheu, 64, of 37 Fairmont Street died on Wednesday evening, June 22, 2005 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Judy was the daughter of the late Harold W. and Mary E. (Rancourt) Baker. She was born in Conway, New Hampshire, June 24, 1940, and had been a resident of Laconia for most of her life.
Judy received her training and nursing education at Cambridge City Hospital, Cambridge, MA. She was a Registered Nurse at Lakes Region General Hospital for many years working in the Labor and Delivery Room. Along with her husband Roland L. Maheu she was a partner in the Maheu Insurance Company here in Laconia.
Judy was a communicant of Our lady of the Lakes Church in Lakeport. She was also an active member of Lakeport Community Association.
Judy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Roland L. Maheu of Laconia, two sons, Gary A. Maheu of Laconia, and David H. Maheu of Longmont, CO. One daughter, Victoria L. Ashley and her husband of Raleigh, NC. One brother, John N. Baker and his wife Erly of Belmont. One sister, Jeri Lou Poirrier and her husband Roger, “Pete” of Laconia. Two grandchildren, Alexander W., and Mary Elizabeth Ashley both of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Elizabeth M. Maheu of Franklin, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 27, 2005 from the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia at 9:00 a.m., followed by a mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Lakes Church 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, at 10:00 a.m. Rev George J. Soberick, pastor of the church celebrated the mass. Burial followed in the family lot at Union Cemetery, Laconia. Family and friends were invited to visit Sunday evening June 26, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. in the Church Street Chapel of Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia.
