LEICESTER: Jeanne B. (Desautels) Wood, 89, of 1075 Main Street died Thursday, Feb. 25 in her daughters home after an illness.
Her husband George H. Wood died in 1999. She leaves 5 sons; Jeffrey G. Wood and his wife Margo of Cherry Valley, Michael F. Wood and his wife Denise of Cherry Valley, Kenneth J. Wood and his wife Nancy of East Brookfield, Timothy J. Wood of Worcester and James M. Wood and his wife Martha of Holden, 2 daughters; Cynthia A. Tolman and her husband Stephen of Vernon, CT and Nancy J. Hesselton of Rochdale, 2 sisters; Constance M. Wood of Bonita Springs, FL and Elaine P. Poirier of Rochdale, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a son-in-law Albert Hesselton.
Mrs. Wood was born in Central Falls, R.I., daughter of Edmund J. and Ida M. (St. Cyr) Destautels. She was a member of St. Joseph-St. Pius X Parish. She was a charter member of the Cherry Valley American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and bird watching. The family would like to thank the Notre Dame Hospice nurses for their dedicated and compassionate care.
The Funeral will be held Wednesday, March 2 from MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are Tuesday, March 1 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home.
