Obituary

CHICOPEE – Theresa B. Landry, 87, a longtime resident of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, February 25, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born at home on Chapel Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee on October 26, 1928, a beloved daughter of the late Napoleon and Alberta (Lajeunesse) Landry. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from local schools and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was employed for 46 years in the shipping and receiving department of the former VanValkenburg Manufacturing Company in the Willimansett section of Chicopee. She later was employed at the former Sunshine Art Company in East Longmeadow. During her leisure time, Theresa loved spending many hours outdoors and enjoyed skiing, canoeing, fishing, hiking, picnicking and traveling to many places including Florida, Maine and Nova Scotia. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved soul mate of 39 years, Frederick J. LeBlanc, Sr. who was Called Home on September 1, 2006; her two dear brothers, Arthur N. Landry and Albert N. Landry; and her dear sister, Irene Goff. She leaves her devoted nephews and niece, Douglas Landry of Florida, Luann Sheridan and Conrad “Connie” Goff, both of Chicopee, John Mark Landry and his wife, Deborah, of Springfield, Clay Landry of South Glens Falls, NY, Robert Goff and his wife, Hope, of Agawam; and her cherished extended family, Frederick J. LeBlanc, Jr. and his wife, Claire, of South Hadley. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, March 2, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (the funeral home will open at 9 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Patrick Cemetery, 168 Fuller Road, Chicopee Falls, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, March 2, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts New Hampshire Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
