Obituary

Leon Sazonick, 87, of Berlin, passed away on Friday February 26, 2016 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital. He was born in Berlin, NH on March 23, 1928 the son of John and Olga (Kluchnick) Sazonick and was a lifelong resident. He was educated in Berlin and served with the US Navy. Leon had been employed by the Boston & Maine Railroad for over 45 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Gorham Sabattis Lodge # 73 for over 60 years and was also a member of the Bektash Shrine Temple in Concord, the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed having coffee with friends at Dunkin Donuts and was well known in area restaurants and coffee shops, where he will be missed. Leon also enjoyed long walks in the woods, shooting sports and elk hunting in Colorado with his brother Paul.

Family includes his brothers Alfred Sazonick of Butte, MT and Paul Sazonick of Salida, CO; sisters Jennie Stevens of Williamsburg, MA, Lydia Sazonick of California and Diana Sazonick of California; cousins, numerous nieces and nephews.

A Masonic Burial Service will be held at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Friday March 4, 2016 at 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-7 prior to the service. Interment will be in Old City Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Shriners Hospitals.
