Joan M. Speh, 78, died Saturday, February 13, 2016, after a brief illness. She was born January 8, 1938 in Kingston NY, the eldest daughter of Casper and Elizabeth Miller.
Joan and her former husband, Warren, were stationed at various Naval Bases on the East Coast from 1960-1976, but spent most of their time in Groton and Mystic, CT, raising their family. Joan was known for her generosity and kindness to all she knew. A kind and loving, wife, mother, sister, daughter, neighbor and friend. She was loved and will be missed by many and had a significant impact on the lives she touched.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Speh of Dunedin, Florida, Laura and her husband Todd Sankey of Massachusetts, her grandson Alec Brodeur and two stepgrandchildren Kevin and Hannah Sankey, and her sister and brother in law, Judith and Ralph Corrigan of Trumbull, CT and their children, Jennifer, Ralph and Brenna. She is also survived by her former husband, Warren Speh of North Stonington.
Friends and family will be invited to a private service to celebrate Joan's life.
