Joseph C. Sullivan Jr., 76, of Andover, MA passed away peacefully on February 24th, 2016 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Marybeth (Markham) Sullivan of Andover; his sister Ruth (Sullivan) McIlheny and her husband Victor of Cambridge; his daughter Deirdre Sullivan of Andover; his son Dennis Sullivan, wife Dana, with their three children Will, Caroline, and Grace of Needham, MA; his 4 nephews: Timothy, George, Kevin, and Brian Lannan; and many other relatives and friends. He is pre-deceased by his son Mark Sullivan; and his three sisters: MaryEllen, Joan, and Cynthia. Joseph was a veteran of the US Navy and an attorney who spent a 40+ year career working for the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and served as the General Counsel until retirement. Joseph enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and grandchildren. He loved being at his summer home in Rye Beach, NH and traveling with his wife and good friends during retirement. Visitation at Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home in Andover on Sunday, February 28 from 2-6 PM. Funeral at 9:15 AM on Monday, February 29 at St. Augustine Parish, 43 Essex Steet, Andover. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the National Liver Foundation or the National Brain Tumor Society.
