Laconia----Walter Harry Goodwin 98, of Wellington Drive died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Lakes Region General Hospital.
Walter was born July 12, 1917 in Haverhill, NH son to the late Earle L. and Lillian (Hartley) Goodwin. He was a veteran of the US Navy – Seabees serving in the South Pacific during WWII.
Walter worked as an installer at New England Telephone for many years and a member of the ski patrol at Gunstock Mountain. Walter was also a lifetime member of the Laconia Elks No. 876 as well as a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He enjoyed traveling and was a lifelong Red Sox fan. In retirement he divided his time between Wells ME. And Seminole, FL. and spending time with his friends and family.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Helen R. (LaBranche) Goodwin, of Laconia; a son, Jay Goodwin and his wife, Linda of Laconia, his two daughters, Sally Daley and her husband, Robert of Chelmsford, MA and Candace Eastman and her husband, Neil of Laconia; nine grandchildren, Laura, Steven, Michael, Jennifer, Scott, Kelly, Dawn, Jay and Keith along with 14 Great Grandchildren, a sister, Elsie Bernier, of S. Lebanon, ME. along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother, Ernest Goodwin and his sister Georgianna Goodwin.
Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH, using the Carriage House Entrance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 11:00am at St. Andre Bessette Parish-St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St., Laconia.
Burial will follow in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia NH.
