SCANNELL, James A., Jr. of West Roxbury, formerly of Mission Hill, Boston, February 24, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born October 1, 1928 to Mildred (Wenger) and James A. Beloved husband of 63 years of Mary (Connell) Scannell. Loving father of Marybeth McDonough and her husband John, James A. III and his wife Kathleen, Carol Raffoul and her husband George, Julie MacIsaac and her husband David, Thomas and his wife Maureen, Michael and his wife Susan. Adored grandfather of John, Katie, Ryan, Kristin, Meghan, Erin, Brianne, Thomas, Stephanie, Michael, Matthew, Jillian, Corey, David, Catherine, Joseph, Griffin, and James. Great-grandfather of Mairead, Gracie, Nora, Thatcher, and Freyja. Loving brother of Mary (Scannell) Shattuck and the late Joseph, Virginia, Gerard, and Robert. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Saturday, February 27 at 8:30am. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help “Mission Church” at 10 o’clock. Visiting hours Friday 3-8 pm. Relatives and friends invited. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Member of St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Theresa Parish, Boston Edison employee of 44 years, US Navy Veteran, Korean War. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to Mission Church, 1545 Tremont St. Boston MA 02120.
