Pembroke, MA – Belmira (Bella) Freitas, died on February 22, 2016 at the Wingate Nursing Home in Kingston, Ma.
Bella grew up Portsmouth, R.I. and was the daughter of the late Dominic and Florida Souza and sister of the late Joseph (Joe) Souza. She then moved to Fall River, MA, with her late beloved husband Antone (Tony) Freitas, where they purchased a home ad raised their family.
Bella was a long time member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and was a sample dress maker for Jones of New York.
Bella is survived by her son Jeffrey Freitas of Abington, MA, her daughter Eileen Bogan of Norfolk, VA., and her God Child Madeline Perry and her husband Thomas Perry of Somerset. She is also survived by her dearly loved grand and great grandchildren Meghan, Katie, Matthew, Luke, Kayla Marie, Gavin, Rose and Cayden of Norfolk, VA and her great nieces and nephew, Jennifer Perry of Pembroke, Ma, Gina Perry Duarte and husband Nathan, of N.J., Micaela Gardiner and Jonathan Mello of Somerset, MA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral which will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. John of God Church at 10 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on Friday from 4-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942
