NATICK: Patricia A. (Beirne) Gomes, age 79, a loving mother and grandmother, died at her home on Monday, February 15, 2016. A lifelong Natick resident, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Patricia A. Beirne.
Patricia was raised in South Natick and started work as a bank teller while in her teens. After graduating with the Natick High School Class of 1955, she was employed as a head teller with Shawmut Bank and later with the Framingham Cooperative Bank. While in Framingham, she decided to leave banking and work with those who needed care. After training in nursing care, Patricia began work as nurse’s aide at Cardinal Cushing Hospital. Before long she was caring for patients at their homes, work she enjoyed until her retirement.
A major sports enthusiast, Patricia was a great fan of the Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics, but when it came to hockey, the Canadiens were her team. She was a skilled candlepin bowler and played with various leagues over time. She was happiest in the company of her loving family.
Predeceased by her daughter Michelle A. Gomes in 2007, she is survived by two daughters, Maureen E. Gomes and her husband Winston Foreman of Maynard, and Dionne M. Smith and her husband Kason of Uxbridge; her grandchildren Austin, Christopher, and Corey Gomes; great-grandson Anthony Jr; and her brother Robert Beirne of Bellingham and his family. She was also predeceased by two of her grandchildren, Ashley in 1999 and Caysee in 2012.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, on Saturday, February 27th at 10:00AM. Burial will be at Saint Patrick Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, 4 – 7PM.
