Doris Kent Blanton, 94, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Cypress Pond Assisted Living in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Benjy Varnell officiating. Mrs. Blanton will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 25, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Chuck Bargeron, Doug Bargeron, Jake Blanton, Dallas Blanton, Christian Vales and Andrew Vales will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Christian Covenant Sunday school class of Tifton’s First United Methodist Church and the staff of Cypress Pond Assisted Living in Tifton.
Born December 10, 1921 in Tifton, Mrs. Blanton was the daughter of the late Joseph Kent, Sr. and Elsberry White Dana Kent. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John William Blanton; two brothers; and two sisters. She was a homemaker and member of Tifton’s First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Club 55, the UMW Group and Meals on Wheels. She served as a Pink Lady with the Tift Regional Medical Center Medical Auxiliary. She loved reading, playing bridge and traveling.
Mrs. Blanton is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William Roy Blanton and wife, Gale of Alpharetta; two daughters and a son-in-law, Diane and Tommy Bargeron and June Blanton, all of Tifton; seven grandchildren, Donna Smith, Catherine Wilson, Jake Blanton, Margaret Rameriz, Dallas Blanton, Chuck Bargeron and Doug Bargeron; and ten great-grandchildren, Andrew Vales, Christian Vales, Victoria Price, Charlie Bargeron, John Michael Bargeron, Riley Bargeron, Luke Blanton, Beckette Blanton, Eva Rameriz and Luciea Rameriz.
