Mildred “Millie” Teresa Johnson, 86, died Friday, February 19, 2016. She was the widow of Carl Victor Johnson, who died in 1980, and the longtime companion of Jack McElroy, with whom she shared her life for twenty years. She lived in Smithfield in the Greenville Manor on Church Street prior to her entry into the Nursing home
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of Fred and Mae (Cavanaugh) San Souci. Mildred worked as a waitress at J and D as well as the Smithfield Elks. She was a member of the Smithfield Emblem club, and loved dancing at the Elks.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth J. Johnson, of Burrillville, Carl M. Johnson, of Johnston, Eric P. Johnson of Georgia, and David V. Johnson of Johnston, her eight beloved grandchildren and her eight cherished great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister Doris Franklin and Mary Taylor..
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11am in St Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
