Obituary

Geoffrey W. "Jeff" Leet, 83, passed away at home surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness on February 21, 2016. Born in Braintree, MA in his home to his parents Geoffrey M. and Elizabeth (Rodger) Leet, in 1932, one of six children and only son. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carole (Landers), his children, Gregory and his life partner Albie Micklich, Patricia Rogers and her husband Mark, Douglas and his wife Lauren MacKay. He was a devoted Papa to his beloved grandchildren, Lauren and Dennis Rogers and Mary Kate and Daniel Leet. He is also survived by his sister Eva Boudreau of Virginia and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sisters, Dorothy Long, Margaret Cappola, Barbara Pelrine and Mary Oddo. Jeff was a retired Executive Sports editor for the Brockton Enterprise. He came to work at the Brockton Enterprise in 1959 in the composing room as a Linotype Operator and eventually moved to the Sports Dept. He was an avid outdoorsman and advocate, he loved fishing, hunting, walking in the woods, his garden and all nature had to offer. He also wrote two weekly outdoor columns during his 37 years at the Brockton Enterprise "Sportsman's Corner" and "Anglin Around". He was a member of The New England Outdoor Writers, where he served on the Board of Directors as well as many committees. He was honored with a lifetime membership upon his retirement. Jeff also was a member of the Upland Sportsman Club, where he enjoyed many friendships, played Texas Hold Em Poker and loved to compete in horseshoe tournaments. He and his wife enjoyed traveling across the country, visiting family and friends and touring some of the National Parks, visiting Presidential Libraries and camping along the way. Jeff served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and served in Japan and Korea. Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00PM on Sunday, February 28 at the Shepherd Funeral Home 216 Main St. Kingston (Rt.106). A memorial service will be held, Monday, February 29, at Shepherd Funeral Home at 11:00AM. Internment will follow at Central Cemetery in Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Halifax Food Pantry, 503 Plymouth St, Halifax, MA, 02338 or to the charity of one's choice.
