Obituary

LEICESTER: Catherine M. (Keegan) Kroyak 94, formerly of 25 Laurelwood Ave., died Monday, Feb. 22 at Christopher Heights in Worcester.
She was the wife of John J. Kroyak who died in 2004. She leaves two sons John E. "Pat" Kroyak and his wife Mary Frances O'Connor of Dennisport, and Thomas G. Kroyak and his wife Susan of Lee, three daughters Margaret "Peggy" Caulfield and her husband Michael of Palmer, Christine M. Goretti of Oxford, and Elizabeth M. Giobellina and her husband Joseph of W.Boylston, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a daughter Maureen Kroyak, a grandson Brian Kroyak, two brothers Joseph Keegan and Richard Guthro and a sister Dorothea Cudd.
Catherine was an assistant treasurer at Leicester Savings Bank where she worked for 30 years, retiring in 1991. She previously worked for the Veterans Administration in Rutland and Worcester.
Born in Portland, Me., she was the daughter of Joseph S. Keegan and Mabel (Allen) Keegan Guthro and later graduated from Portland High School in 1939 and attended the Shaw Business School also in Portland. She then served her country with the Women's Army Aircorps during WWII. She was in the first WAAC Battalion to serve over seas during WWII. She was a member of the 169th. Company WAAC Assoc., Charter Member of "Women's in Military Service for American Memorial" in Washington, DC., and the VFW Post 756 of Rochdale.
She was a member of St. Pius X Parish and past member of their Women's Guild. She was a volunteer driver for FISH in Leicester, Catholic Charities Friendly Visitors Group and Abby's House Volunteer, Senior Citizen Club of Leicester and a past corporator with Leicester Savings Bank.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, Feb. 26 from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Abby's House, 52 High St., Worcester, Ma. 01609.
