CHICOPEE – Therese M. (Bergeron) Robert, 88, of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Sunday, February 21, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at The Arbors in Chicopee where she resided for the past year surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born at home on South Street in Chicopee on October 8, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late Paul M. and Antoinette (Lebeau) Bergeron. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Saint Joan of Arc Elementary School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. She was employed for many years at the former A. G. Spalding Company in Willimansett and then assisted her son, Donald after he purchased the former Lacroix Market in Willimansett. She was a longtime member of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett where she was a volunteer at the parish bingo. She was also a member of the Parish Council and a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality Guild. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Roger J. Robert who was Called Home on June 25, 1984. They were married on September 1, 1950 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 33 years of happiness together. She leaves her four loving children, Susan T. Racine and her husband, Ronald, of Blandford, MA, Dennis R. Robert and his wife, Kathleen, Christine D. Alheim and her husband, Brad, and Donald J. Robert, all of Chicopee; her nine cherished grandchildren; her five cherished great-grandchildren; her dear brother, Roger Bergeron and his wife, Barbara, her dear sister, Marcella “Marcie” Moran and her dear brother-in-law, Fernando Pouliot, all of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Robert and Bergeron families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her cherished grandson, Daniel Roger Robert; and her dear sister, Fernande Pouliot. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, February 26, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.) , followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
