Virginia Haddock Whitley, 87, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, February 20, 2016, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Monday, February 22, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Whitley was born November 22, 1928, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Martin & Lucille Ball Haddock. She was a 1945 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Mrs. Whitley lived in the community all of her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of Arbor Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, George D. “Buck” Whitley of Fitzgerald; daughter: Jan & Wayne Fussell of Fitzgerald; son: Jay & Marcia Whitley of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Baylee & Blake Williams, Jayne Fussell, and Hunter Whitley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Daniel K. “Danny” Whitley; and a sister, Barbara Jean Odom.
