Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Mary Pipares, 87, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Friday, February 19, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Springfield on January 20, 1929, a beloved daughter of the late Steve and Terpsithia (Efstratious) Peperis. She was raised and schooled in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was employed for over 30 years as a secretary at the former Monsanto Chemical Corporation in Indian Orchard and retired around 1984. During her leisure time, she enjoyed singing and acting in numerous plays in the area and also enjoyed painting. She was a communicant of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield where she sang in the Cathedral Choir for many years. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving brother, Anthony Peperis. She leaves her loving sister-in-law, Nell R. (Kirby) Peperis of Bowling Green, KY; her favorite nephew, Steve K. Peperis and his wife, Lori, of Monson, her three dear nieces, Diane Brignardello and her husband, Mike, of Franklin, TN, Denise Oliver and her husband, James, of Bowling Green, KY, and Donna Brown and her husband, Bill, of Alvaton, KY; her many cherished grandnephews and grandnieces; and her many beloved great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces. She will also be sadly missed by her loving feline companion, Lexi. She was also predeceased by her three loving cats, Timmy, Muffy and Isis. Mary will Lie in State on Saturday morning, February 27, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. which will be followed by a Funeral Service at 9:30 a.m. at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2320 Main Street, Springfield, MA 01107. Her burial will follow the Service at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 22 Saint George Road, Springfield, MA 01104.
