Robert F. Dilling, 86, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, February 20, 2016, in Fitzgerald.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald with the Rev. David Ash officiating.
Mr. Dilling was born March 18, 1929, in Gaston County, North Carolina to the late Claude & Ruth Helderman Dilling. He moved to Georgia in 1971. A self-employed mechanic, Mr. Dilling spent his career working on small engines. He owned and operated lawn mower repair shops in Rochelle and Fitzgerald. He was of the Jehovah’s Witness faith.
He is survived by his son, Shane Dilling of Fitzgerald; a daughter, Velva Jean Hardin of Balm, Florida; grandchildren: Channing Dilling, Lois Jean Lanier, Roy Lanier, Kitty Lanier, and Denver Shane Hardin; great grandchildren: Trinity Carswell, Sarah Carswell, James Garajo; and a sister, Rebecca Jones of Indian Trail, North Carolina.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Brown Dilling; and a daughter, Sharlene Dawn Dilling.
