Obituary

James E. Kelley, 65 of Plymouth and formerly of Walpole, died February 18 at his home. He was the husband of Janis (McLaughlin) Kelley.
Born in Boston, June 19, 1950, the son of the late Francis E. and Margaret M. (Hanlon) Kelley, Mr. Kelley was raised in Walpole and had lived in Plymouth for the past 16 years.
He was a 1968 graduate of Walpole High School. He also graduated from Lake Forest College and received Master’s Degree in special education from Bridgewater College.
Before attending college Mr. Kelley had worked for a time as a corrections officer at Cedar Junction in Walpole.
Mr. Kelley had been a special education teacher at South Coastal Collaborative in Rehoboth for many years until he retired 3 years ago.
When he retired he was sent over 50 letters from parents of students he had helped over the years thanking him for all his care and devotion to their children.
He had previously worked in the Town of Seekonk as a special education teacher.
Jim was an avid reader, he also was an avid sports fan especially of the New England Patriots.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his siblings Janice M. Kelley of Quincy, Patricia E. Cooke of Franklin, Paula M. Callahan of Foxboro, John F. Kelley of Foxboro and Robert F. Kelley of Easton.
He is also survived by his sister-in-laws, Julie Lavanchy, Linda Walsh and Lauren McLaughlin.
Jim also leaves several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 23 in the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhoomes.com) 892 Main Street, Walpole at Noon.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 10:00 – Noon.
Interment will be private.
