Obituary

Edward "Ted" G. Drinkwater, of Kingston, MA, formerly of Plymouth, Duxbury and Scituate, died at his home on Friday, February 19, 2016, surrounded by his family.

Ted was born in Boston, MA, the son of the late Edward & Mary Drinkwater, on July 26, 1936. His family moved to Newton in the early 1940's, where he attended the public schools through the 8th grade after which he entered Saint Sebastian's CDS for his high school years. He then matriculated at Boston College from which he was graduated in 1958.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Ted began his career in retail management. He worked for Filenes for some 20 years as a store manager at various locations. In 1979, Ted moved to Lord & Taylor in Boston becoming Divisional Vice President. He finished his career in retailing at Filenes Basement in Boston in 2007.

Ted and his wife, Jinia raised five children while living in Duxbury; Mark of Roslindale, Elyse (Craig) McPherson of Kingston, Christopher of Oakland, CA, John Michael of Los Angeles, CA and the late Joanne Drinkwater. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Nora and Caroline McPherson, who brought him many happy memories; and his brother, Jack (Margot) Drinkwater of Wolfeboro, NH.

Visiting hours at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 PM.

Funeral services at the Shepherd Funeral Home, Kingston, on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at 9:00 AM, followed by his funeral Mass at the Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury, at 10:00 AM.

Interment services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, In Memory of Edward G. Drinkwater, for the purpose of Melanoma Research, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226, www.dana-farber.org/gift
