Obituary

Richard Pierce Potter, 73, son of the late Gladys (Pierce) Potter and Jonathan H. Potter, Sr. of Westport, MA passed peacefully on February 19, 2016.

Richard attended Westport High School and afterwards lived for several years in the Washington DC area. While there, he worked as a motorcycle courier for the White House, a taxi driver, as a guard for a women's college and as a maintenance man at the famous Watergate. He enjoyed traveling to Alaska and Las Vegas. Richard always loved going fast in life, whether it was on his motorcycle or in the '57 Chevy. He loved music, especially anything related to Elvis.

He will always be remembered with unconditional love by his sister Jean and brother-in-law Bob Murphy, his brother Jonathan and sister-in-law Robin Erickson Potter, his nieces Stephanie Lynn Hoyt and Svea R. Erickson-Potter, his nephew Shane Erickson Potter and his fiancée Heidi, and his great nephews Logan, Beckam, Preston and Ashton.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation – Highlander in Fall River, MA and at Taunton State Hospital in Taunton, MA for their care for Richard over the years with genuine love and for knowing his warm heart.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Potter Funeral Home at 3:00 P.M.
Calling hours will be from 1-3 P.M., at the funeral home, prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
