Obituary

BEVERLY: Stewart Russell Hadley, 95, died Thursday, February 18, 2016 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Mary Genevieve (Haskins) Hadley who died in 1993.
Born in Gloucester on September 28, 1920, he was the son of the late Stewart J. and Lucy L. (Herrick) Hadley. He had resided in Essex for many years before moving to Beverly sixty-five years ago. A U.S. Navy Veteran of World War Two, he proudly served in the Pacific before being honorably discharged in 1945.
Russell was the owner and operator of Hadley Aluminum Products, a home improvement contracting company he founded in the late 1960’s and currently run by his son, Steve. He retired in 1986. He was a former member of the Herman A. Spear Post, #331 American Legion and the Vittori-Rocci Post #56. He was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, much loved by all who knew him. He had a special place and fondness in his heart for his pet cats over the years. He has left a void in the hearts of his loved ones and will be truly missed. He is now safe at home in the arms of God.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Maureen E. and Thomas Macaro of Beverly; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven G. and Christine Hadley of Rowley and Wayne J. and Kathy Hadley of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; thirteen grandchildren, Zachary Macaro, Laura Cote and her husband, Jay, Sara Tkachuk and her husband, Steve, Meagan Macaro and her companion, Jim, Rachael Macaro and her companion, Bobby, George Hadley, Genevieve “Genny” Hadley, Emma Hadley and her fiancé, Ben Cordetti, Christopher Hadley and his companion, Kim, Peter Hadley and his wife, Janice, Amanda Hadley, Nathan Hadley and his companion, Brandy and Andrew Hadley and his companion, Meghan; eleven great-grandchildren, dear friend, Rita LaBonte and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother, Roland Hadley, three sisters, Harriett Hallinan, Bessie Conrad and Ellen Coull and also his dear war buddy, Bob Handy.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday in St. Richard’s Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers at 9 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot St., Beverly from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Gloucester.
