Juliette M. (Bourassa) Vandal, formerly of Jewett City, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at W.W.Backus Hospital in Norwich.
Mrs. Vandal was born on September 30, 1917 in Manchester, NH, daughter of Edmond and Marie (Desaulniers) Bourassa. She married Joseph H. Vandal on May 27, 1939 in St. Mary Church, Jewett City. He predeceased her on September 21, 1993.
She was last employed as a Purchasing Agent at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Groton CT, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Small Church Community groups and a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne. Juliette was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Juliette is survived by two sons, Paul Vandal (Sally) of Old Mystic and Joseph Vandal of Bellevue, WA and two daughters, Vivian (Gilbert) LaPointe of The Villages in Florida and Claire (Joseph) Roise of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Gilbert and Gregory LaPointe, Kathryn and Paul Vandal Jr., Logan and Branden Roise and Trygve, Synnove and Logan Vandal, as well as four great grandchildren Marissa and McKenna Dube, Rowan Vandal and Finpan LaPointe. She is survived by her brother Norman (Leona) Bourassa of Colchester, CT and predeceased by two brothers, Marcel and Gerard.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 26, at 11:00am at St. Mary Church, 34 North Main Street, Jewett City followed by burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 815 Boswell Avenue, Norwich. There are no calling hours.
