Obituary

CHICOPEE – Chester “Chet” Lemanski, 88, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center West in Chicopee surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Zbojna, Poland on January 29, 1928, a beloved son of the late Piotr and Aniela (Kula) Lemanski. He was raised in Poland and settled in Chicopee around 1965. While in Poland, he served in the Polish Army after World War II. He was employed for many years as a machinist at the Smith & Wesson Company in Springfield. During his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, carpentry, woodworking and building wood cabinets. Most of all, he was a hard working man who loved his family and his many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Anna (Poreda) Lemanski who was Called Home on June 4, 2010; his loving daughter, Elizabeth Swiderski who was Called Home on July 14, 2009; and his six dear siblings. He leaves his two loving sons, Zenon S. “Zeke” Lemanski and his wife, Jane, and John C. Lemanski and his wife, Barbara, all of Chicopee; his loving son-in-law, Ronald Swiderski and his wife, Lynn, of Westfield; his seven cherished grandchildren, Tracy Janik and her husband, Greg, Jennifer Sousa and her husband, Jeff, Katelyn and Lindsey Swiderski, and Stephanie, Gabrielle and Ethan Lemanski; his two cherished great-grandsons, Gavin and Parker; his dear sisters-in-law, Jadwiga Burzynski and Krystyna Kania, both of Worcester; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Lemanski and Poreda families. His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday morning, February 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.). His burial will follow the service at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
